After having read the script Jessica knew that the role will require training in weapons and she recorded her first class by a trained professional. Jonathan Glassner stated that they were amazed at Jessica's performance during her first training lesson. The previous movies she has appeared in were all made in Australia. The Outpost was her debut big part in the United States. Jessica can play the role of a strong woman due to her enthusiasm for action, her mixed martial arts expertise and her riding horse, weapon and firearms abilities, as well as her athletic ability. She has studied boxing and muay Thai, and trains at the gym for mixed martial arts in Australia. Jake Stormoen was spotted by a dog when filming Season 4.
